Frequently Asked Questions

Net Worth = Total Assets − Total Liabilities. It represents your actual financial position — what you own minus what you owe.
A popular rule of thumb: Net Worth = Age × Annual Pre-Tax Income ÷ 10. E.g., a 35-year-old earning ₹12 lakh/year should target a net worth of ₹42 lakh. This is a guideline, not a strict rule.
Assets include cash, bank deposits, stocks, mutual funds, real estate, gold, EPF/PPF balance, vehicles, business ownership, and any other valuable property.
Liabilities include outstanding loans (home, car, personal, education), credit card dues, business debts, and any other money you owe.
Calculate your net worth at least annually — ideally every 6 months. Tracking it over time helps you see your financial progress and identify areas for improvement.
Your home is an asset only if its market value exceeds your outstanding home loan. If the home loan balance is more than the home's current value, it becomes a liability.
